Today is Valentine ‘s Day. I don’t know the complete story behind St. Valentine but I have heard many different versions. Instead of trying to decipher which is correct and which is worth my thoughts, I am thinking more closely about love and how it relates to the heart—or if it relates. Love is a relative term with various degrees of meaning and interpretation. Looking at love from a basic emotional point of view: is it a condition of the heart or is it only in your mind. Why?
Is love a condition of the heart

I am a poet with an interest in topics that include themes of unity, sensitivity and equality, in addition to the study of women writers of the postmodern era and the experimental genre of contemporary poetry. As a starting point for the focus of my poetry, I am working through interpreting personal observations of the homeless situation in Detroit. In my community and surrounding areas, I have witnessed and experienced discriminatory practices that resulted in senseless divisions in the work place, schools, communities and neighborhoods with increasing numbers of homeless people. Exposure to these real life situations made me question the amount of attention that local governments give to matters of equality, sensitivity and homelessness. I am concerned that there aren’t enough voices in local leadership such as block clubs and community organizations, that encourage passive citizens to become engaged. In the tradition of political activism, I am working through ways to deliver these messages. At this point of development in my poetic practice, I use compression, the tension of the line, and the sounds of language to stress social acceptance and cultural sensitivities. hi! when talking about love isn’t the heart on the mind?

Good point! I wonder if this holds true for people with a different outlook on love and the many emotions it evokes

No worries 🙂 I am referring to that which defines love for each individual. For some, love is purely mental. For others it is a physical experience with thoughts being merely the road one travels to arrive at love. There are so many variations.

Yes, you probably are right! That would explain many disagreements in the relationships
