Italo Calvino’s If On a Winter’s Night a Traveler

51jszgfeg2bl-_aa300_Now that summer is finally lifted Michigan from the caverns of cold, I can get back into my Knit Lit group readings! Kicking off the Summer activities we are taking a look at Italo Calvino’s If On a Winter’s Night a Traveler. First of all, the title had my attention because I immediately began to wonder what the story would be about and who this traveler was. I immediately thought about something in the realm of science fiction but then realized that there was nothing scientific about the title so why should I assume it was science fiction? Anyway, I downloaded the title from Audible and immediately began listening. Twelve minutes into the book, I AM HOOKED! I have never heard of this author nor am I familiar with any other reads in this genre. The captivating part of this book is the way in which the author takes the reader through the story. The introduction of characters is so refreshing and unexpected.

This book initially put me in the mind of Utopia by Sir Thomas More, not for content but for structure.

If you are interested in reading with us, join Knit Lit. Even if you do not live close enough to come to campus and chat about the novels we read, I would be more than happy to chat with you right here on my blog! I’ll be here if you decide to stop by 🙂
